About The Opportunity

The Site Operations Manager (SOM) will join our SHEQ Department, who are an established team of experienced rail safety professionals. You will be instrumental in ensuring the continued safety of all TES 2000 staff and subsequent contracted staff. 

TES 2000 are currently looking for an experienced Site Operations Manager for our South Yorkshire area including Leeds, York and Doncaster on a full time permanent basis, working 2 in 3 weekends.

About You

The ideal SOM will (Essential):

  • Be experienced within the rail industry with in depth knowledge of Network Rail rules and regulations
  • Have a calm demeanour with excellent interpersonal skills with demonstratable analytical and methodical way of working
  • Have obtained PTS, IWA or COSS and PS competencies (Can provide training if held in past)
  • Be confident in using IT equipment
  • Possess strong knowledge of SSOW Planning
  • Hold strong Geographical knowledge of South Yorkshire

The ideal SOM will (Desirable):

  • Possess mentoring and coaching skills, although this can be taught to the right applicant
  • Rail Incident Investigator Qualified 
  • Understanding of the H&S legislation relevant to Rail Safety
  • PICOP advantage

The SOMs' typical day:

  • Undertaking planned and unplanned site visits to ensure safety compliance, mentoring, site familiarisation and various audits  
  • Providing the SHEQ Advisor with fully completed audit documentation at the end of each shift.
  • Reporting any unsafe actions or situations to the relevant on-call manager as soon as is practicable and completing relevant paperwork associated
  • Assist the on-call manager if required in the gathering of evidence and personal statements in the event of an accident or incident as directed by the on-call manager
  • Participating in Employee Relation matters relevant to unsafe or potentially unsafe work practices by site personnel
  • Communicating with the relevant SHEQ on call manager for additional health and safety related advice if required.
  • Undertaking additional duties deemed to be within your competence as directed by the Head of SHEQ.
