About The Role

TES are currently looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to be based at our Head Office in Colchester.
This position is for 37.5 hours per week with 60% of working time in the office/on-site, working pattern is Monday - Friday 8am - 4.30pm. 

The purpose of this role is to support the business with the operational management and control of projects commercial and financial contractual obligations.

About You

Candidates must have the following:
  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Excellent IT skills including strong Excel expertise
  • Budgeting skills
  • Organisational and planning skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work alone
  • Full driving licence
  • Great timekeeping
  • Customer focused
  • Accredited by the RICS (Royal Institution for Charted Surveyors)
  • Railway Experience (Desirable)
  • PTS Qualified (desirable)
Responsibilities will include: 
  • Understand the implications of Health & Safety regulations
  • Review and preparation of tender and contract documents, including but not limited to detailed bills of quantities, as required by the business.
  • Prepare and analyse costings for tenders
  • Undertake cost analysis and continuous monitoring for each project.
  • Provide periodical reports on variations to contracts that may affect costs.
  • Perform risk, value management and cost control assessments
  • Attend site visits as required to enable accurate costings of jobs.
  • Manage all associated project related claims or commercial variations
  • Attend commercial interface meetings between projects and our finance team to review and discuss commercial performance and any concerns or opportunities arising
  • Monitor payments due and received from clients or suppliers and directly liaise with either as required to ensure efficient closing of commercial matters.
  • Attend meetings with clients as and when required
  • Any other duties required to fulfil the role
